I think I checked my email about 20 times a day. Frenetically, I updated the page. I stopped bothering to close the tab actually, because I knew I was going to open it within ten minutes again. It wasn’t because I was so excited to get the latest newsletter from Coop, it was something much bigger than that. I was waiting for my acceptance letter to Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
The other morning when I checked my email, it was suddenly in my inbox. I updated a few times, but it was still there. And thank god for that, because I had just bought the plane ticket. You know, nothing feels expensive anymore after buying a plane ticket for 9000SEK!
The next days were spent applying for accommodation, looking into the visa details and looking at my preapproved courses. I was surprised by how easy it all ended up being because I had imagined it being similar to doing calculus in Chinese. Although it turns out I accidentally applied for a course within architecture.. Wopsie. Not that I’m a business student or so haha.
Writing this, I have exactly two months until the plane takes off from Arlanda with a 44 hour trip in front of me. With a first stop in Berlin, a second stop in Abu Dhabi, I will have a well deserved twelve hour layover in Melbourne. I’m really excited for that actually, because during my first semester at JIBS, in 2014 I became good friends with aussie-Daniel who will now be my personal tour guide for the day. You just gotta love how you come across from all over at JIBS. At 11.30pm that same day, I will finally land in Wellingon and the next morning, orientation day starts. Intense, but it’s the way I want it!
Hei konā rā (it means bye in maori)
Born and raised in Finland, this 21 year old moved to Sweden in 2014 to start University. Multiple courses and quite some student life involvement later I somehow made it through to my fourth semester and is going to be rewarded for the hard work by going on exchange this upcoming fall to the country of my dreams – New Zealand. It’s gonna be totally awesome.
