1. What is your position in the board and what are your main tasks?
I hold the position as head of internal and I am main responsible for JSA’s internal projects including Nextstep, Spring Inspiration, Ball Committee, Graduation and Entrepreneurship Day. The position is a bit vague and I often get the question what does the head of internal really do, and I can admit that it took me one ore two month to figure it out myself. It varies how much I incorporate in every project but I have a continuous conversation with the project managers for all the ongoing projects. The larger projects, Nextstep and Spring Inspiration, are more self-sufficient and most of the contact goes through the project managers. When it comes to the smaller projects I incorporate more and become more as a part of the team. Moreover, the position involves a great deal of problem solving and communication
2. How is a typical workweek in your position?
When holding the position as head of internal no work week is the same and my work tasks varies a lot depending on what time of the year it is. However, during a normal week I have several meetings to attend, a bunch of ongoing Facebook conversations and there are always some problems to be solved. It is to a large extent depending on the current head of internal how she or he wants to design the position. An example is last spring when I decided to start up the JSA Summer Ball, because me and the team believed that JIBS was missing a tradition in form of another yearly. In addition, it would be a perfect ending to the school year. The Summer Ball turned out to be a success and I decided to start up a Ball Committee that would be responsible for both the Winter Banquet and the Summer Ball.
3. What do you like to do in your free time? Any hobbies or specific interests?
When I am not studying or doing JSA stuff I mostly hang out with my friends and watching movies, eating good food or drinking beer. No interesting hobbies unfortunately haha!
4. What made you decide to apply for your position?
When I started at JIBS my wish was to get engaged in some project or other activity connected to the university. Last autumn when I learned about the position I recon that it would fit me perfectly and I decided to go for it.
5. What have this opportunity given to you?
The greatest opportunity I have got from being a part of the JSA board and head of internal is all the people that I have met and get to know. Working with five different projects have given me the opportunity to work with really engaged and existing people. Moreover, I have got great experience and knowledge how to work and cooperate with different kind of people which will be a benefit later in my career.
6. Do you have any advice for future applicants?
My advice for future applicants to any of the positions within the JSA board is to get a proper understanding of what the position that you are planning to apply for really means and what work tasks that are included. The best way to do this in order to get the full picture is by asking the one that currently holds the position. And of course, if you feel for it, do not hesitate to apply you will not regret it for a second!
