1. What is your position in the board and what are your main tasks?
I am the Head of Marketing, which is pretty much taking care of the JSA brand in general. Some would may say that it is really easy and not a position at all, but with a fast-pace of marketing in a student-driven environment, it can get pretty busy.
Right now, we are preparing together with the JSA Board and mine committee a campaign for traditional Biannual Meeting and helping Election Committee with branding the recruitment for upcoming board. This include among others various posters, banners, texts for webpage, facebook posts, mailing, or Instagram photos.
My main tasks include managing newly established committee, guarding poster spaces at school, bringing up innovative ideas and keeping the JSA as fresh as possible 24/7.
2. How is a typical workweek in your position?
I would say that it varies from week to week, since some of them could be busier than others. Normally, I attend a Monday board meeting and then distribute the work among committee. I have established it quite recently and before that was more or less on everything on my own, which was really time consuming and exhausting.
During other days I control our marketing channels, poster boards, reply to emails of students regarding promotion, or brainstorm about upcoming project campaigns with my team.
3. What do you like to do in your free time? Any hobbies or specific interests?
In my free time I love to get out of Jönköping for a bit and explore a world around. I enjoy travelling a lot and that is mine biggest passion beside music. I love to go to different concerts, festivals, and see as many live acts as possible. My friends know very well that I am obsessed with music in general and always bringing subject to that.
Otherwise I like to hit a gym once in a while or bike around the lake, since I find it as a great space-out from my daily routine.
4. What made you decide to apply for your position?
My application was actually complete no-brainer, since I did not know exactly what JSA is, but love the idea of being involved in something student-driven and contribute to student environment over here. As an exchange student from Czech Republic, who is studying the whole bachelor over here, it sounded as a great opportunity to meet new people, get out of my comfort zone and do what I love – marketing.
5. What have this opportunity given to you?
This opportunity had given me a lot of new friends, contacts and experiences. I was able to attend so many amazing events that JSA is bringing every month and talked with many interesting individuals. I believe that it pushed me somewhere else, strengthen my collaboration skills and enabled me to broaden my marketing horizons. I figured out after few weeks that if I want to leave a big mark after myself, it would take a lot of work and time especially. But after accomplishing a complete rebranding of the JSA, JSA webpage, social media, establishing clearer rules for marketing in university and much more, I can only be proud of myself and my decision of joining this wonderful organization.
6. Do you have any advice for future applicants?
I would definitely encourage them to apply and prepare for this crazy rollercoaster that JSA is. It can be stressful and crazy in first weeks, but after you make clear rules, time schedule and priorities, you will love that! Be prepared to experience something new, open to new ideas and ready to collaborate with different mindsets on a daily basis in order to achieve the best for all JIBS students.
