From Monday 6th to Saturday 11th of May 2019, some Jönköping University students went to Norway with a trip organised by the Student Union in collaboration with Scanbalt.
The adventure started with a Viking biking tour in Oslo, through which people had the possibility to learn more about the city’s history and traditions. The next day, the group moved to Gjerde, a small village in the western Norway, where students could enjoy themselves by discovering the nature around them and by eating a delicious BBQ with a view. Not far from the campsite there is the Jostedal glacier, which is considered to be the largest one in continental Europe. Wednesday was spent there with activities like Kayaking and hiking, visiting the glacier was a unique and unforgettable experience! Before heading back to Jonkoping, students took a boat cruise that went through the Norwegian fiords and ended in Bergen, a UNESCO World Heritage City and a European City of Culture. During the time there, they joined a walking tour, wandered through the city and its majestic mountains and experience Bergen nightlife.
The Student Union with the support of the Integration and Activity Committee is responsible for organising students trips. They represent a unique opportunity for students to learn more about the Scandinavian culture, explore unforgettable places and meet new interesting people.
