Every week a Culture Day is organised with the ultimate goal of supporting the integration of international students within the university environment. The event always takes place on Friday from 12 to 1 at HLK Lobby, and every time a different culture is introduced. During the events there is a presentation and some traditional food, and participation is free of charge! It is a great opportunity for learning more about traditions and interesting facts of different countries and for meeting international students and asking them information about their country (especially if you are planning to go there on exchange).
Two members from the Integration Committee who are responsible for managing Culture days told us their opinion about the event:
“Culture Day gives us an opportunity to learn more about different cultures from all around the world. It makes the hosting students to integrate and to collaborate with each other, but not only. The most satisfying moment as a member of IAC is when students show interest to organize a Culture Day for their country and they put an big effort in preparing the event. They show respect and seriousness towards students and the event itself.”
Sara Hyso, BSc International Economics
“I believe Culture Day is a wonderful opportunity to experience and learn about cultures from different countries. Students of their home countries are able to come together to celebrate their nationality but also share a piece of their culture to other international students. I think it’s amazing how students are passionate and excited to present themselves in their national outfits, prepare traditional dishes and also perform dances or songs from their country. It brings such a vibrant and blissful atmosphere amongst the student body as we’re based in an international university after all. I am so glad that I am able to be a part of such a wholesome event and being able to capture the moments of everyone enjoying their time at Culture Day. Culture Day holds something special and amiability that brings students to understand one and other better.”
